The Town of Rocky Mountain House is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual to fill the role of a part-time Economic Development Coordinator. The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team-orientated, innovative and results-driven. This person will be part of a great team and will be responsible for managing the Rural Renewal Stream Program and assisting with other aspects of economic development for the Town of Rocky Mountain House.

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. The Rural Renewal Stream supports the attraction and retention of newcomers to rural Alberta through a community-driven approach that supports local economic development needs and contributes to the growth of the community. The Rural Renewal Stream empowers rural communities to recruit and retain foreign nationals to live, work and settle in their communities.

Reporting to the Economic Development Officer, this part-time position will implement, administer and manage the Town of Rocky Mountain House Rural Renewal Stream Program. The position will be the direct contact for business applicants and candidates, providing excellent customer service through timely response and professional communication.

As a key player in our team you will have or be willing to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Experience in business administration, economics or marketing,
  • Thorough knowledge of the region’s features and stakeholders
  • Proven positive track record in dealing with business interests.
  • Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders including local businesses and the provincial government
  • You will be expected to become educated on the provincial program and able to respond to any questions or inquiries.

This is a part-time position working 17.5 hours per week.

This person will be part of a great team in providing good public relations, lifeguarding, quality instruction, water chemistry readings, procedures of cash register and janitorial duties at the Aquatic Centre.

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 3 months experience working at the Rocky Mountain House pool or equivalent experience
  • Must conduct a one-hour staff training in-service
  • National Lifeguard, Swim & Lifesaving Instructor Certifications.
  • Government of Alberta Approved Standard First Aid an asset.
  • WHIMIS  and OH&S training
  • Jr. lifeguard experience
  • Cash experience

The Town is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual for the position of Legislative Assistant. Reporting to the Legislative Coordinator, the Legislative Assistant is responsible for providing confidential, administrative support to the Legislative Department, Town Council and the Chief Administrative Officer.

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma
  • Administration professional certification or experience
  • Five years’ experience in an office environment, preferably government
  • Certificate or courses in the NACLAA or FOIP programs or willing to obtain
  • Strong comprehension of FOIP
  • Commissioner for Oaths or ability to obtain certification
  • Class 5 Drivers License
  • Strong Customer service and Communication skills, both written and verbal;  ability to maintain ongoing communication to anticipate and prevent potential problems, develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with Council, staff and other stakeholders.
  • The hours worked are contingent upon the requirements of the position and may include overtime as to the nature of the position.

Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service by coordinating the Summer Day Camp program and other Town recreation activities and summer events. This person will be part of a great team in providing the leadership, planning, and coordination of the Town’s Summer Day Camp program in Rocky Mountain House.

  • Plan and supervise recreational activities for campers and summer events.
  • Supervise campers during before and after care.
  • Adhere to all Town and camp processes and procedures.

This position is a full-time 40 hours per week for 13-weeks, contract position from June 2 - August 30, 2024 (Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM)
