Spring is pothole season

Lately, the weather has been playing peek-a-boo with the roads. When the snow clears, residents may notice the toll that this year’s pattern of extreme cold and milder temperatures has taken on our streets.

Potholes are formed when water seeps into cracks in the road and freezes, breaking the pavement. When the ice thaws, more water seeps in and freezes again, causing the pavement to break further. This year, this cycle repeated more than usual, meaning there are more and bigger potholes on the roads this spring.

Crews have already been out tackling potholes and road repairs across Town. Full repairs cannot be completed until the ground is fully thawed and overnight temperatures stay above freezing. We know bumpy roads can be frustrating, and we appreciate your patience while our teams work to fix them!

Residents can let us know of road issues by submitting a service request at rockymtnhouse.com/p/potholes, so our crews can track and tackle them.
