Rural Renewal Stream: Candidate Information

Candidates include individuals seeking employment and Permanent Residency in Canada through the AAIP Rural Renewal Stream. Otherwise described as an employee, job seeker, newcomer, or immigrant. 

To be eligible for the Rural Renewal Stream and work in the community of Rocky Mountain House, Candidates must:

Prospective Candidates should not contact the Town of Rocky Mountain House directly with resumes, job applications, or any inquiries regarding moving to Rocky Mountain House. Please contact the Employer directly. See the list of Employers approved by the Town of Rocky Mountain House.

Submission of an application or nomination by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program does not guarantee you will receive Permanent Residence status.


Applying for Employment

  1. Candidates must review, understand and ensure they meet all eligibility requirements under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program – Rural Renewal Stream BEFORE applying for job. 
    • Those who do not meet the eligibility will not progress through the program. 
    • Candidates that are currently living in Canada are only eligible if they have valid temporary status in Canada.

  2. Once a Candidate has confirmed they meet all the eligibility requirements, they may apply for employment. Candidates must receive an eligible offer of employment from an Employer that has been approved by the Town under the Rocky Mountain House Rural Renewal Stream Program.

After the Offer of Employment

  • Once a Candidate receives a valid job offer, the Employer will apply to the Town of Rocky Mountain House for the Candidate's Endorsement Letter. The Town will review the job offer and prioritize Candidates for endorsement who are most likely to successfully settle and remain residing within Rocky Mountain House.

  • The Town of Rocky Mountain House can only review applications for Endorsement Letters after a Candidate receives a job offer from an Employer who is approved by the Town. See a list of Employers approved by the Town.

  • Endorsement Letters are issued by the Town directly to the Endorsed Candidate.

  • Upon receiving an Endorsement Letter from the Town of Rocky Mountain House, Candidates must submit their application through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program- Rural Renewal Stream Portalto receive a 204C letter from the Government of Alberta. 
    • At this point, any questions about the application process or the application itself must be made to the Government of Alberta. 
    • Note: The Government of Alberta collects a non-refundable fee for this application process.

  • The application will be reviewed, and the Candidate will be notified by the Government of Alberta if they are eligible for provincial nomination. 
    • While the Government of Alberta assesses your application, you must intend to and be able to work, reside, and settle in Rocky Mountain House.

  • If successful, you will receive a 204C letter from the Government of Alberta. You must then make application to the Government of Canada via Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. 
    • At this point any questions about the application process or the application itself must be made to the Government of Canada.

  • Town of Rocky Mountain House will provide the Endorsed Candidate a digital Welcome to Rocky package which contains information on resources available to them.

  • The Town shall follow up with the Endorsed Candidate three weeks after the Endorsement Letter has been sent.
    • The purpose of these meetings is to get feedback from Endorsed Candidates on the successes and challenges of their experience progressing through the Rocky Mountain House Rural Renewal Stream Program. This feedback will help the Town improve the experience for future Endorsed Candidates.
