Employers who wish to fill job vacancies using the Rocky Mountain House Rural Renewal Stream Program must meet a series of criteria and apply for the program before providing a genuine offer of full-time employment to a qualified and eligible Candidate.

Employer Eligibility Criteria
The Employer's business must be incorporated or registered by or under an act of the legislature of a province, territory or the Parliament of Canada and operating within the municipal boundaries of the Town of Rocky Mountain House.
The Employer must have full-time, permanent work, defined as a minimum of 30 hours per week with continuous employment for 12 months or more. The wages and benefits offered must meet or exceed the lowest starting wage for the occupation across all industries in Alberta as set out in the ALIS website.
- To be eligible, Employers must not be in violation of any federal, provincial or municipal laws, bylaws, or regulations. Employers must be in good standing with:
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Alberta Health Services
- The Worker's Compensation Board of Alberta
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
Employers must possess a valid Town of Rocky Mountain House business license.
Employers must demonstrate that they have satisfied all program requirements to fill the position within Canada and the outcomes of those efforts. A Labour Market Impact Assessment [LMIA] is not required, but demonstrated efforts to recruit locally, provincially, and nationally is required.
For the purpose of the Rocky Mountain House Rural Renewal Stream Program, the Employer must demonstrate the vacant position has been posted for a minimum of two consecutive weeks within the past three months.

Other Eligibility Requirements
- Once approved in the program and prior to issuing an offer of employment, Employers should note that the prospective Employee must also meet eligibility criteria under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program’s Rural Renewal Stream. There are also requirements surrounding the job offer itself. Employers are strongly encouraged to review the available information carefully and become familiar with the requirements.
Employers must agree to take a lead role in advancing newcomer success in our community. Employers are required to demonstrate knowledge of the responsibilities of welcoming newcomers and providing a warm and welcoming environment. The following are resources that prospective Employers are encouraged to review prior to submitting an application to the Town to participate in the Rocky Mountain House Rural Renewal Stream Program:
Operate a safe and welcoming workplace, this can be created by:
Including appropriate onboarding and training, establishing policies and procedures that clearly outline the Employer’s culture and values, defining performance expectations, and providing equitable opportunities for professional growth and/or advancement;
Maintaining a work environment that prohibits all forms of harassment, discrimination, and racism by enduring that effective policies are in place both for reporting and responding to any incidents that may occur; and/or
Recognizing that newcomers may require additional levels of support upon arrival, such as language or skill building, a community orientation, and/or a mentorship program, that help to set newcomers up for successful integration into the workplace and community of the Town of Rocky Mountain House.
Ineligible Jobs
Ineligible job offers
The following individuals are not eligible to apply for or be nominated, even if they have a job offer to work 30 hours a week or more in a 12-month period:
- part-time, casual or seasonal employees, regardless of their working hours
- independent contractors, business owners or temporary agency workers, including individuals listed as directors, shareholders or agents of the Alberta employer on the Corporate Registry System (CORES)
- employees who work in Alberta in a place of employment that is not zoned for commercial or industrial operations, such as a home-based business (applies to Alberta Opportunity, Rural Renewal and Tourism and Hospitality Streams; for details on distinctions within the Alberta Express Entry Stream and valid job offer requirements)
- employees who do not work in Alberta, such as those who work online from a location outside Alberta or who work at a premises outside of Alberta
Ineligible occupations

How to Apply
Employers interested in accessing the program must submit a completed Rocky Mountain House Rural Renewal Stream Employer Application Form.
Applications may be subject to a 30-day review and approval period.
The Town of Rocky Mountain House will review all Employer Applications and may conduct an interview with the Employer to determine eligibility and participation in the program. Employers will be specifically requested to provide details on how they will support successful Candidates' integration into the community of Rocky Mountain House.
Employers that are not willing to take an active role in supporting successful Candidates’ integration into the community of Rocky Mountain House will not be accepted into the Rocky Mountain House Rural Renewal Stream Program.
Approved Employer Responsibilities
Post approved Rural Renewal Stream job vacancies.
Complete the foreign national hiring process.
Apply to the Town of Rocky Mountain House for a letter of endorsement on behalf of the successful Candidate.
Support newcomers.
Follow-up with the Town of Rocky Mountain House Economic Development Department.
