The Town is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual for the position of Elections Coordinator. This is a part-time, temporary contract position. Reporting to The Town of Rocky Mountain House’s (the Town’s) Manager of Legislative and Protective Services, the Election Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Returning Officer with coordinating election activities in accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act, the Town’s Election Bylaw, and leading practices.

The Election Coordinator is expected to already have, or be able to quickly gain, a strong understanding of municipal and school board election processes as provided for in the Local Authorities Election Act and the Town’s Election Bylaw.

The Election Coordinator will coordinate election-related activities under the oversight of the Returning Officer for the Town’s 2025 municipal election, including procuring voting station supplies, recruiting election workers, preparing training and informational materials, responding to inquiries, and keeping accurate records.

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. As a key player on our election team, you will have the following qualifications: 

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma.
  • Post secondary certificate or Diploma in Office Administration or related field.
  • Understanding the Municipal Elections Act and related municipal and provincial regulation.
  • Knowledge of municipal election procedures with exposure to leading election and the processes.
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience working with the Education Act, Municipal Government Act as well as any other applicable legislation.
  • Proficient in Windows based software including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Political acuity and acumen.
  • Satisfactory Criminal record check.

The hours worked are contingent upon the requirements of the position and may fluctuate each week.

The Town of Rocky Mountain House is seeking energetic, dynamic individuals to work as Marketplace on Main attendants this summer. The successful candidates will be strongly devoted to public service, team-oriented, and results-driven. Attendants will be part of a great team responsible for assisting with set-up & clean-up, monitoring safe procedures, fostering good customer service relationships for the Town’s Marketplace on Main event each Thursday from June 26 through August 28, 2025.

The Legislative Assistant is responsible for providing confidential administrative services to the CAO, Legislative and Protective Services Department, in a friendly, courteous and professional way by assisting customers at the Town office in person, by email or by phone.

Five to seven years of related experience, with at least two years of experience providing administrative support to senior and/or executive management, preferably in a government setting.
Strong comprehension of the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA).
Class 5 Drivers License
Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to maintain ongoing communication to anticipate and prevent potential problems, develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with Council, staff and other stakeholders.
Commissioner for Oaths or ability to obtain certification.
Courses in the NAACLA program or willing to take.
Satisfactory Criminal record check.
Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC), if required.

The hours worked are contingent upon the requirements of the position and may include overtime as to the nature of the position.

  • Must meet all requirements of Alberta Justice Solicitor General to acquire Level 1 Community Peace Officer Appointment. 
  • Must have previous CPO level 1 experience within the last 3 years. Or attended CPOIP for Community Peace Officer Level 1 Training.
  • Must have valid PARE or equivalent upon start date.   
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License (Minimum Class 5). Must provide current driver's abstract upon employment.
  • Must maintain a clear criminal record authorized by the R.C.M.P. or local police agency.
  • Previous experience in Bylaw Enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and/or Animal Control Enforcement is an asset. 
  • Animal handling training or certification is an asset. 
  • EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) or equivalent is preferred (mandatory completion upon employment)
  • Must be willing to do shift work including weekends / holidays.
  • Radar / Laser certification is required.
  • PPCT certification (Pressure Point Control Tactics) or equivalent control tactics is required.
  • OC Spray / Baton certification is required. 
  • First Aid / CPR certification is required.
  • Knowledge of computers / software – Microsoft Office / MOVES/ROADS / Incident Report systems (report exec) is an asset.
