The Town of Rocky Mountain House is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual for the position of Temporary Full Time Summer Administrative (Finance) Clerk from May 8 – August 25, 2023. The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative, result driven & willing to gain exposure to various accounting & administrative functions. This person will be part of a great team answering telephone and in person inquires regarding utilities, property taxes, animal licencing, accounts receivable, etc. and directing calls to the appropriate person. Cash functions, including reception of payments of cash, cheque, debit and credit cards and daily balancing of those payments.  Collect, open and sort incoming mail, filing, preparation, and scanning documents.  Provide vacation coverage as required. Providing support to the Finance Team over the Summer.

As a key player in our team you will have or willing to achieve the following qualifications:

  • This position can be filled by either a student currently enrolled in a business program that is returning to school in the fall of 2023 or someone that is interested in a casual call-in position throughout the year.
  • A highschool diploma is required.  
  • Business courses and accounting experience are assets.
  • Ability to work in a busy office and deal with customers either on the phone or in person in a professional manner.
  • Experience with cash receipting and balancing bank deposits is preferred.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a computerized environment with a broad base knowledge of computer applications. 
  • Strong communication skills.

The Town is seeking energetic, dynamic individuals for the positions of Summer Laborer (Seasonal) for Parks and Grounds Maintenance. The successful candidates will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and result driven. These persons will be part of a great team in providing grass maintenance, gardening, garbage clean up, playground maintenance, line painting, road maintenance and other duties to help make our community look inviting and presentable. Each Summer Laborer will build experience and knowledge in a fun and rewarding work environment.

This position is for temporary seasonal work from May 1 to August 25, 2023. Hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

The Town of Rocky Mountain House is seeking up to two energetic, dynamic Community Peace Officers (Level 1) for casual work.

A minimum requirement of two shifts per month, per officer is required, to a maximum of five shifts per month. Each shift is up to ten (10) hours long. The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and result driven.

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. Living in Rocky Mountain House you can experience live arts, concerts, all sports or belong to one of the multiple community organizations. Town amenities include the Rocky Regional Recreation Centre, the Credit Union Co-op Aquatic Centre, skateboard park, ball diamonds, parks, extensive trail system and playgrounds. As a key player in our team, you will have or willing to achieve the following qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education in a related discipline or previous law enforcement experience as a Community Peace Officer (required).
  • Must meet all requirements of Alberta Justice Solicitor General to maintain a Level 1 Community Peace Officer Appointment. 
  • Must have previous CPO level 1 experience within the last 3 years. 
  • Must have valid PARE or equivalent upon start date.   
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License (Minimum Class 5). Must provide current driver's abstract upon employment.
  • Must maintain a clear criminal record authorized by the R.C.M.P. or local police agency.
  • Previous experience in Bylaw Enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and/or Animal Control Enforcement is an asset. 
  • Animal handling training or certification is an asset. 
  • EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) is required.
  • Must be willing to do shift work including weekends / holidays.
  • Radar / Laser certification is required.
  • PPCT certification (Pressure Point Control Tactics) or equivalent control tactics is required.
  • OC Spray / Baton certification is required. 
  • First Aid / CPR certification is required.
  • Knowledge of computers / software – Microsoft Office / MOVES/ROADS / Incident Report systems (report exec) is an asset.
