RCMP Public Facing Crime Mapping Project
Crime mapping helps law enforcement management make better decisions, target resources, and formulate strategies that include crime reduction, intelligence-led policing, problem-oriented policing and assists in community policing. RCMP in Alberta have recently rolled out a public map for certain detachment areas, including the Rocky Mountain House detachment.
Information about the Map:
- Only certain crime types are presented on the map:
- Theft from Motor Vehicle;
- Theft of Motor Vehicle;
- Theft over / under $5000;
- Break & Enter;
- Mischief; and
- Missing Persons.
- Emergency Situation Flags will only appear in emergency situations and for very short periods.
- Plotted addresses are not exact but rather a nearby intersection or street.
- Entries include only basic information (i.e. file number and date).
- Entries are automatically be removed after 14 days.

Crime Capture (Community Assisted Policing Through Use of Recorded Evidence)
The Rocky Mountain House RCMP is one of several central Alberta detachments that draw on Community Assisted Policing Through Use of Recorded Evidence (Crime Capture) program. Private citizens and businesses can register their closed-video surveillance cameras with the RCMP so that if a crime occurs in an area police already have contact information on who to ask permission from in securing video to assist in an investigation.
The program is voluntary. No one is ever obligated to provide actual footage. Review the FAQ and learn more about the program online at www.crimecapture.ca.
Search & Rescue
Rocky Mountain House Search and Rescue provides service to the Town and surrounding area. Services are also provided to other agencies as needed.
Rocky Mountain House Search and Rescue are activated by the RCMP. All emergency calls should be routed through 911.
